1/3 cup soy sauce
1 Tbs sugar
2 tsp sesame oil
1 bunch green onions, chopped (white and pale parts, reserve green parts)
1 Tbs garlic, minced
1 Tbs ginger, minced
3 Tbs toasted sesame seeds
1/8 cup fresh cilantro leaves, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup white wine
1 pound flank steak - sliced across grain about 3/8" to 1/2" thick
Whisk together soy sauce, wine, sugar, sesame oil, white and pale green onions, garlic, ginger, half of the sesame seeds and half of the cilantro. Place the beef in a large ziplock storage bag (you can also do this in a baking dish but I think you get better coverage in a bag) and pour ingredients over the meat, squeeze out the excess air and seal the bag. Marinate for 15 to 30 minutes then cook on a medium high grill until you get your desired level of doneness. Ours only took a few minutes I was turning the first pieces before I had put the last pieces on the grill.
We served this with a rice pilaf and the Falesco Vitiano red blend.
