What the Wine Critics Thought: Wine Advocate 91 Points
The outrageously good 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Mulberry Tree is a terrific bargain. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 12 months in a combination of French and American wood, is the kind of wine that makes consumers realize there is a lot of over-priced Cabernet in the marketplace. It boasts a deep ruby/purple color, an excellent texture, and notes of underbrush, black currants, tar, sweet cassis, and cedar. Full-bodied with light to moderate tannin, it can be drunk now or cellared for a decade.
What We Thought: A hot cedar and cassis nose leads to a classic ultra-ripe Aussie palate. Full-bodied and oozing with ripe plum and jammy blackberry fruit, it is supported by super-supple tannins. If you like big, fruity Cabs, don't miss this wine!
