Cousino Macul Cabernet Sauvignon 2000 Antiguas Reserve, Chile $15
What the Wine Critics thought: Wine Advocate 90 points
Aged in 60% American and 40% French oak barrels, it is dark ruby colored and sports a nose of tar, licorice, coconut , as well as spiced blackberries. This medium-bodied wine has superb purity, freshness and richness. It coats the palate with loads of red cherry, blackberry, spice and mocha flavors. Its ripe tannins will ensure a long life. Drink now through 2012.
What we thought: An excellent cellar candidate for only $15! Good tannic structure supports plenty of ripe blackberry, cassis and cedar on both the nose and palate in this silky smooth, medium-bodied, classically styled Cabernet. From the oldest vineyards in Chile, you owe it to yourself to try this one.
