Casa Lapostolle Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 Rapel Valley, Chile $11
What the Wine Critics thought: Wine Enthusiast 90 Points
Lapostolle's basic Cab scores big in the fine 2001 vintage. It features a deep nose of rubber, blackberry and rusticity. The palate is high octane and deep, with plenty of ripe, tannic black fruit. And the finish is round and lengthy.
What we thought: While in our minds the 90 points may be a little high, this really is a very, very good bottle of $11 wine. It has great color, a classic cedary, blackberry nose and a palate that is soft, medium-bodied and very rich with dark fruit and ends with light, drying tannins on the finish.
