Starts off dark and dense, but quickly finds a sense of elegance that lets the pepper and licorice-scented blackberry and cherry flavors come through, then echo beautifully on the firm, fine grained finish. Drink now through 2010.
What we thought: Outstanding effort! The nose assaults you with aromas of ripe, sweet blackberries and raspberries all tied together with cedary notes from the Cabernet. It's rich and full-bodied on the palate with gobs of ripe blackberry fruit and toasty oak providing vanilla overtones. Supple tannins show up on the finish.
