A real winner from Penfolds 92 Points, 22 Bucks!
Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon 2003 South Australia $22
What the Wine Critics Thought: Wine Spectator 92 Points
Ripe and appealing for its red berry and herb flavors and supple texture of currant and dried blueberry flavor that linger effectively against refined tannins. A hint of gaminess weaves around the edges, but the finish and the style have immense appeal. Best from 2008 through 2015. H.S.
What We Thought: Densely colored, this big Aussie has a blackberry and cassis nose and a ripe, full-bodied palate. This is a blackberry bomb of the first magnitude, supported by ultra-supple tannins and a light streak of acidity. If you like them big and fruity... this wine has your name on it.
