This was Wine Spectator's online "Wine of the Week" last Tuesday. I didn't get excited until I saw that it came in 375s! We tried it Thursday night and it's pretty darn good ... finally, an affordable Cabernet split!

Penfolds Koonunga Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2002
Southeastern Australia $6 - 375 ml
What The Wine Critics Thought: Wine Spectator 88 Points
Lithe and appealing for its gentleness, focusing its raspberry, currant and dusky herb flavors into a lovely beam that shines through a refined finish. Drink now through 2009.

What We Thought: This wine has a classic Cabernet nose of cedar and cassis and a full-bodied black raspberry and blackberry palate with supple, yet substantial tannins. This is a very good, everyday drinker.

PS: It also comes in 750s for $11....
