Peter Lehmann Mentor Red Blend 1999
Barossa Valley, Australia $59
Vintage Closeout $29.99
What the Wine Critics Thought: Wine Spectator 90 Points
Dark, dense and ripe, not heavy in texture but chewy with soft tannins around a plump core of cherry, herb and smoke flavors. It all lasts impressively. A classy wine meant to wrap itself around food rather than stand on its own. Best from 2006 through 2012. HS
What We Thought: A blend of 56% Cabernet, 20% Merlot, 14% Shiraz and 10% Malbec, this elegant Bordeaux blend has a classic cedar and cassis nose and a bold, full-bodied blackberry and black raspberry palate supported by supple tannins and finishes long and smooth. Understated by Peter Lehmann standards, this is a great food pairing wine.
