Catena Alamos Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 Mendoza, Argentina $10
What the Wine Critics thought: Wine Spectator 86 points
Good, juicy bramble, black cherry and vanilla flavors, with a gutsy finish. Drink now.
What we thought: Not bad as inexpensive South American Cabs go. It has plenty of cassis and cedar on a nose that is just slightly flawed by a bell pepper aroma. The palate is full-bodied and soft with blackberry fruit and nice acidic streak that helps with food.
