Tim Adams The Fergus Grenache 2000 Clare Valley, South Australia, $17
What the Wine Critics thought: Wine Advocate 89 points
The Fergus is a Grenache-based offering that includes small quantities of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. Mint as well as eucalyptus are found in the 2000 The Fergus. Displaying more color saturation than the 2001, as well as a fuller, fleshier palate presence, plenty of black cherry and cassis fruit, and a moderately long finish, it should drink well for 4-5 years
What we thought: Here is a lighter Australian red to pair up with grilled salmon or an Herbs de Provence rotisserie chicken. Aromas of black currants and allspice lead to a medium-bodied palate with flavors of plum and red cherries and lots of classic Grenache spiciness.

And finally, one that's pretty darn good!
