Terra Andina Cabernet
Pretty Darned Good Juice... $6.99!
Here is a Chilean Cabernet that you can take seriously at a price that's almost a little hard to believe. Good fruit, nice tannic structure, no cloying residual sugar... this $6.99 Cabernet that will not embarrass us or you.
We kissed a lot of toads to find this Cabernet... tasting through all the "Grocery Store" brands from Chile, Australia, Spain and even California. We braved acids that would remove tooth enamel, tannins that would grow fur on your teeth and aromas of bell pepper and cabbage that would send you back to beer. Then we found this obscure winner from one of our smaller fine wine distributors who doesn't even sell to grocery stores....
This is the kind of wine you can open for a party or with friends and not be disappointed. Trust me, I can't tell you how many times I have paid more than this for a glass of wine that I could barely drink. Not only will this wine not embarrass you, it might surprise you!
Terra Andina Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 Central Valley, Chile $9
We Bought a Bunch $6.99
What the Wine Critics Thought: Stephen Tanzer 88 Points
Dark red. Cherry-vanilla and red currant aromas, with sexy oak spices adding interest. Round and fleshy, with sweet berry flavors, gentle tannins and a good finishing lift. This is awfully good for the money.
A Wine Guy Value Selection
What We Thought: This easy-drinking Cabernet is filled with aromas and flavors of blackberry and black cherry along with some oaky vanilla notes. Full-bodied, it carries some supple by evident tannins that benefit from a short decant and ensure that this bottle will hold and drink well for at least two to three years. This is serious Cabernet that drinks well beyond its price.
Additional case discounts do not apply to items with $.99 sale price endings. However, sale wines do combine with other wines to make non sale wines eligible for cases discounts.
As always, the Wine Guy Guarantee applies. If you buy a case of wine and don't like it, just return the other bottles for an exchange or refund.
