Casa Lapostolle Cuvée Alexandre Carménère 2009 Colchagua, Chile

Suggested Retail: $24, We Bought a Bunch: $16.99

This elegant Carmenere is an excellent example of Chile's most misunderstood wine...

What the Wine Critics Thought: Wine Enthusiast: 92 Points
Rich and dark smelling, with alluring pastry, earth, herb and soothing berry aromas. Deep, meaty and very ripe across the mouth, with cola, chocolate, roasted berry and fresh prune flavors. Toasty and lush as it fades away. Fun and modern; drink now through 2013. —MS

What We Thought: Light will not penetrate this dense, inky dark, full-bodied Carmenere that is filled with smooth, brambly blackberry fruit, supported by firm, dusty tannins that will reward decanting.
