Barb's Holiday Stuffing

This holiday stuffing and cranberry dish have been family favorites for years — I hope your readers enjoy them as well.

1/4 cup butter
1 cup chopped onions
1 cup chopped celery
2 14-ounce cans of chicken broth
1 16-ounce package Pepperidge Farm herb seasoned stuffing
2 cups finely chopped apples (optional)
1 cup toasted pecans (optional)
1 package sage sausage, cooked and drained

In large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Cook onions and celery until tender, stirring occasionally. Add broth and heat to boiling; remove from heat, add stuffing mix (apples and/or pecans), toss to mix well.

Can stuff a turkey and cook as usual or put into a greased 9-inch x 13-inch pan and bake at 375 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
