Double Dark Decadent Brownies

We just don’t tend to make many desserts in our house (although you might not guess that by looking at us), but when Linda tried this recipe a few weeks ago, we couldn’t decide if they were the best brownies we ever tasted or if we just hadn’t had a dessert lately….

Double Dark Decadent Brownies

1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup butter
5 ounces (five squares) semisweet chocolate
3/4 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup unsifted flour
1 cup chopped walnuts
chocolate glaze (recipe follows)

Grease and flour or spray a 9-inch cake pan with Pam. In large saucepan bring corn syrup and butter to a boil, stirring occasionally; remove from heat. Add chocolate; stir until melted. Add sugar; stir in eggs one at a time, then vanilla, flour and nuts. Pour into pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes and then remove and cool completely. Prepare glaze and pour on top.

Chocolate Glaze

3 ounces (three squares) semisweet chocolate
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 teaspoon milk

In small saucepan melt chocolate with butter over low heat, stirring often. Remove from heat. Stir in light corn syrup and milk.

Serve with a glass of cold milk.
