Olivita Crostini

Last Sunday Tom Landshof, the other Wine Guy on Mondays and Fridays, and his lovely wife Suzanne, invited us to their home for dinner. This is one of the appetizers they served and we can officially pronounce it excellent!

1 can (4 1/2-ounce) black olives, chopped
1/2 cup stuffed green olives, finely chopped
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
3/4 cup Monterey jack cheese, shredded
1/4 cup Italian parsley, minced
1 crusty French baguette

In a medium bowl mix all ingredients except Jack cheese and parsley until well blended. Stir in Jack cheese and parsley. Heat broiler. Cut baguette in 24 thin slices. Spread mixture on each slice and place on baking sheet. Broil 3 to 4 minutes until bread is toasted at edges and olivata is bubbly.
