Quick Brown Sauce

Makes 2 cups


2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup flour
1 can condensed beef broth (10.5 ounces)
2/3 cup water


1. Melt butter in small saucepan, stir in flour. Cook stirring constantly over low to medium heat until mixture turns golden brown (this is brown roux).

2. Remove from heat and stir in beef broth and water slowly. Continue cooking until sauce thickens and bubbles. Lower heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
